The AndersenPets Webinar on Dry Eye Was a Great Success
On April 29th at 1:00 PM, we had the pleasure of hosting another AndersenPets training webinar for veterinary clinicians, this time focusing on one of the most frequent and complex challenges in veterinary ophthalmology: dry eye, or keratoconjunctivitis sicca (KCS).
For this session, we were joined byLaura Muñoz, a veterinary ophthalmologist with over 20 years of experience, founder and director of Ocularvet, and one of the leading experts in veterinary ophthalmology in Spain.
Entitled “Beyond the Schirmer Test: How to Properly Manage Dry Eye,” the session delved into the main diagnostic and therapeutic errors that continue to limit the clinical management of many dogs with dry eye.
A Practical Webinar on Keratoconjunctivitis Sicca (KCS)
During the webinar, Laura Muñoz explained why many cases of KCS do not respond as they should, even when the correct treatment is seemingly being applied.
One of the key points of the session was understanding that dry eye is not a single disease, but rather a group of ocular surface disorders with distinct mechanisms and specific therapeutic needs.
In addition, topics especially relevant to daily clinical practice were addressed, such as:
- Patients with chronic ocular discharge and a normal Schirmer test
- Differences between the various types of keratoconjunctivitis sicca
- Common errors in the diagnosis of dry eye
- Practical use of immunomodulators
- Management of refractory cases
- Therapeutic strategies tailored to each patient
All of this was presented from a very practical perspective, based on what we can do in our general practice clinics.
